A Mentoring Internship Program is a transformative experience intended and designed to bridge the gap between classroom education and the professional world and foster self-sustenance. It connects aspiring professionals with industry-leading mentors who provide industry insights, personalized support and invaluable guidance.
Mentees will have the opportunity to work closely with their mentors, discussing career aspirations, setting goals, and receiving feedback on their progress. In addition, mentees will participate in workshops and webinars that cover essential skills such as entrepreneurship, communication, problem-solving, and leadership.
By participating in this program, mentees will gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to excel in their chosen fields and make informed decisions about their career and entrepreneurship paths.
REASONS FOR MIP
Youth unemployment is a significant challenge across Nigeria and Akwa Ibom state is no exception. According to national bureau of statistics, Nigeria’s unemployment rate stands at 34.9%, representing a percentage of the labour force aged 18-34, actively seeking employment.
A Mentoring Internship Program(MIP) capable of developing and empowering talents in Akwa Ibom, enhancing industry-specific expertise encouraging entrepreneurship, building collaborative networks, promoting sustainable development and enhancing workforce skills, can play a crucial role in bridging the gap between education and employment.
Objectives And expected outcomes
At the end of this MIP, participants(mentees) will –
Access the much need guidance, support, and advice for enhancing their skills, knowledge, and confidence and Foster professional and personal development;
Connect with industry professionals, expand their professional networks and explore potential career and entrepreneurship paths;
Define their career goals and develop action plans to achieve them;
Gain required knowledge for entrepreneurship and Kick-off grants/support to launch their individual entrepreneurship ideas;
Develop effective communication, teamwork, and leadership abilities necessary to succeed in their chosen career/entrepreneurship;
Engage in a meaningful lifelong mentorship relationships by leveraging on the mentor connections provided by the MIP and build a culture of mentorship.

Fashion Design
Fashion designing is a dynamic and creative field that involves the conception, creation, and execution of clothing and accessories. It is a form of art that blends aesthetics, functionality, and cultural influences to produce garments that reflect individual style and societal trends.
Poultry Farming
Poultry farming is the practice of raising domesticated birds, such as chickens, ducks, turkeys, and geese, for the purpose of producing meat, eggs, and feathers. This agricultural sector plays a crucial role in meeting the global demand for animal protein, particularly in the form of eggs and poultry meat.
Food Preservation & Processing
Food preservation and processing are essential practices that have evolved over centuries to ensure the safety, longevity, and availability of food. These techniques play a crucial role in meeting the nutritional needs of growing populations and minimizing food waste. Food preservation involves preventing or slowing down the spoilage and decay of food to extend its shelf life. While, Food processing involves transforming raw agricultural products into consumable items through various mechanical and chemical methods.
The program will span six months, allowing mentees to receive sound training, consistent guidance from mentors and support from MIP Advisors.
